We have decided to take a cruise for the first time this year. We have always wanted to see QE2 and the first chance we got we booked a cruise. The itinerary was as follows: 5 days from Southampton to New-York, 6 days in New-York and 5 days from New-York to Southampton.

We arrived 3 hours before the ship was due to sail. The embarkation was fast and soon we found ourselves in our cabin, the luggage was already waiting for us inside. The cabin we booked was grade C3 (an outside cabin) and it was very nice, clean and well furnished, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean and supplied with toiletry. The closet was spacious with many hangers. There were mini-fridge, TV/radio and self-controlled temperature. There was a bottle of champagne on ice and strawberries. Soon after we entered the cabin, our steward whose name was Alexander came to introduce himself. We shortly received under the door our table number and the daily program. We looked at it and we saw that there are many activities all day.

The ship set sail at 4PM.

Our restaurant was the Caronia. It is a new and beautiful restaurant, stylishly decorated with large windows. Our waiters names where Nicky Paul and Michael and they welcomed us warmly. They were very friendly and professional. The menu for the first dinner as for all the other meals was richly varied, there was a lot choose from. The food was excellent, there were no two meals alike.

Each evening there was an entertainment show in the Grand Lounge. The shows included: singers, dancers, comedians and other artists. The Grand Lounge is a beautiful hall with red carpets, red chairs, and marble tables which can accommodate many people.

All public rooms are magnificent too like the Queen's Room, The Chart Room, The Golden Lion pub and the Yacht Club. The ship is enormous and it takes days to see everything.

On the next 4 days on passage to New-York, we tried almost every activity we could: the spa, the indoor pool, there were many talks and lectures. Every day there were two films in theatre. We went shopping a lot and spent time in the library and computer center.

The ship arrived in New-York on the 6th day. We preferred to spend the 6 days in Orlando instead of staying in New-York.

On the way back to Southampton, we had even a better time on the QE2, because we knew better where to go and what to do.

After 10 nights on the QE2, we were sorry to leave, this was our best holiday ever and we will come again sometime in the future.
